Only a 35-minute drive away from Legazpi City is the town of Bacacay. The shores of Bacacay house among the best black volcanic sand beaches in the Philippines. Just a few minutes oﬀ the coast, you have the Sula Channel which has beautiful white sand islets with turquoise and emerald waters. En route back to Legazpi , visit Casa Simeon Heritage House to admire the wood crafts, the local history and also to enjoy a Filipino meal or have native snacks.

NOTE: If you don’t mind spending a little extra, the extended trip which takes you to Bugias, Omagob, Namaday or Mala Puerta (tide dependent), Mosboron, and the Cagbulacao Limestones is absolutely fantastic—clear waters, pristine corals, and marine life. There is an extra fee of PHP3,000 per boat and the trip will run for 5 to 7 hours depending how long you stay in each area. The extended trip is also great if you want a proper picnic lunch on the beach.
